DIY Animal Crossing Money Bag Door Stop

I CANNOT believe I am finally sharing this post! I’ve had this DIY project in mind for well over a year – probably over two – and I can’t believe I finally got around to making it πŸ™Œ

Apparently, I’ve got a thing for novelty door stops. They were some of the first fun decor pieces I bought when we moved out – a melting ice cream cone, a red high heel, and a melting chocolate bar – and then I shared a 3-in-1 door stop DIY post back in 2018, but I am *super* excited about this one!

I got it finished at the perfect time too, as it’s been ONE WHOLE YEAR since Animal Crossings New Horizons was released! Can you believe it?! Wasn’t the world such a completely different place last year? Everyone was playing Animal Crossing; it was amazing to see. This game that I’ve been playing since my age was still a single digit was suddenly all over the internet and the news.

It gave everyone a coping mechanism when we needed it the most, and it was so amazing to see. Of course, the world is far from perfect, and Animal Crossing will never be forgotten, but the world still seems so incredibly different one year later. Anyway, enough blabbering on – let me tell you how YOU can make this super cute DIY Animal Crossing bell bag door stop! βœ‚οΈ

Minimalistic Pokemon Character Jelly/Jello Cups

This year marks 25 wonderful years with Pokemon (it is also marks 25 years with ME, in September, but we’ll get to that then). The very first Pokemon game was released on February 27th 1996, making that day forever known as Pokemon Day ✨As a huge fan of Pokemon my entire life, I knew I couldn’t let this anniversary slip by unnoticed and not celebrated.

I had wanted to make jelly cups of the original cast members for a while now. I was going to make them back in September, as that’s my birthday month – so they could be a treat for myself – but decided this month would be more fitting instead.

But just a day, or even a month, isn’t enough to celebrate this wonderful franchise that I have loved my entire life (seriously, there are baby photos of me with Pokemon birthday cakes that I am far too young to eat – and rough memories of me being teased mercilessly for wearing a Poke Ball necklace to school in high school πŸ™„), so don’t be surprised if you see other Pokemon posts scattered on the blog throughout the year as a nod to the anniversary of this phenomenon still standing so tall and strong after so long.

Whilst I haven’t kept up with the show yet, I WILL – I’ve just been slacking as there’s a lot of TV shows to watch these days! – as I am determined to watch and own every episode of Pokemon there is. I actually got a few more seasons for last Christmas to add to my collection, which is mostly turning into DVDs and Pop Vinyls at this point πŸ˜… Anyway, let’s get onto the recipe!

Star Wars “Blue Milk” Hot Chocolate

If you’re a big Star Wars fan AND you read blogs, you’ll know that there are a million recipes for the ever iconic Blue Milk – or Bantha Milk – floating around the internet, and will also know that mine will probably just get lost amongst the madness.

However, after seeing THREE different ones in a row whilst scrolling through Pinterest one afternoon, I just *had* to make a hot chocolate version. My long-term readers will know about my love of hot chocolates (and how it’s particularly strong around this time of year!), and I just couldn’t let it rest, so here we are!

Honestly, it wasn’t easy developing this recipe. Because I wanted to colour this drink, I knew it needed to start out white, which meant I needed to use actual chocolate. I tried a few times to use and melt real chocolate, but it ended up being too fiddly and it just took too long.

When I have hot chocolate, I want to be able to quickly whip it up before settling down to watch a movie or read a book, not slave over the stove for ages whilst a big chunk of chocolate melts. To solve this problem, I opted for an instant white chocolate mix, which I will link in the recipe.

I’ve been wanting to share Star Wars related recipes and DIY projects on the blog for a long time now, but none of my ideas have worked out until now. Hopefully, in 2021, I am able to bring you more Star Wars related posts because I have really fallen in love with this entire franchise.

I have loved every moment I have spent watching the movies and TV shows related to it, reading other people’s content about it, scrolling through all the memes about it, and reading way too many online discussions about the smallest details about many different storylines πŸ™Š Anyway, let’s get onto the recipe!
