DIY Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Metal Lunch Box

Who knew that, back in 2014, when I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time, I would end up not being able to walk passed ANY kind of cassette tape again – even seven years later… I bought this lunch box last year whilst getting some DVDs as a Christmas present, as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it and turn it into the Awesome Mix Tape.

But you see, the problem with being a collector and a crafter, AND living in a shoebox, is things get real cluttered fast, so I’ve implemented a new strategy: everything I buy must serve two purposes. Whilst this was going to be an awesome addition to my geeky decor, it needed to do more than that if it was going to take up room in our place – but then I realised that this thing literally IS a mini storage compartment.

I had just been given a heck-ton (yes, that is the official term) of Ooshies from a friend as well and wasn’t sure where to put my Marvel ones, so they now live in here. So, they have a home, I have a new addition to my Marvel decor, AND you guys get a new DIY project! Everyone wins πŸ˜‰

DIY Ant Man Pym Particle Key Chain

If you don’t follow me on Pinterest, you may be unaware that I have a goal to have an incredibly geeky office in the future – although “future” may be the wrong word, as it is well on its way there now with my Pokemon, enamel pins, Pop Vinyls, Pez Dispensers, and many other collections helping geek-ify it right now.

Other items that are helping to making geeky are our Marvel items. We have a few Marvel items – mugs, Pop Vinyls, Pez Dispensers, books, the DVD box sets, special popcorn tins, etc – but I wanted more items from the actual movies/shows/comics, which I knew I’d either have to pay a lot of money for, or find a way to make myself.

Unless you’re brand new around here, you’ll already know I love Daiso. I buy a lot of my home decor pieces from there because they’ve got a lot of unique things, and I also turn a lot of random items that I find into earrings and other accessories.

Black Panther Inspired Brownie & Blondie Layered Slice

On one of my latest trips there, I discovered a “car anti-static key chain”. I think it’s meant to stop you from getting an electric shock? Whenever I Google it, I just find more to buy, and not any answers as to why you would need one.

I certainly don’t know anyone who has one, or anyone who gets shocked that much. Anyway, when I walked passed this particular one it INSTANTLY reminded me of the bottles of Pym Particles so I *knew* I had to turn it into one and have my own Pym Particle!

Ant Man is one of my favourite Marvel movies, and I’m so happy I now have a fun item that I made to celebrate it ☺️ It’s my second most-watched one after Guardians of the Galaxy (in case you can’t tell that GotG is my favourite, since it has not one, but two posts of it’s own – and has a third coming). Now, let’s get onto the project! πŸ–Œ

DIY Captain America Shield Surprise Balls

In trying to keep things from staying TOO Christmas-y around here, I have finally finished a DIY project that has been sitting half-completed for way too long πŸ˜… In all honesty, the thing that really made me push through and finish these guys was discovering these awesome Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years books which are SO pretty and I just *knew* they would make such pretty props for the photo shoot 😍 I am so glad I bought them for myself as an early Christmas present!

Whilst these are not the first DIY surprise balls I have shared on the blog (and I have actually shared even more in the past, but they have been culled because just weren’t good enough! πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ), I STILL don’t know how to describe these things accurately because we don’t have them over here in Australia!

If you ARE from Australia – which some of you might be, as that’s my second most popular country for viewers – the best way I can describe them as mini pass-the-parcels, except you get one each, and they’re covered in streamers not wrapping paper, and there’s no music, and you open them as you please, and you get all the presents to yourself… see? Not a very good explanation πŸ˜…

Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Tape Place Cards

As for those in the United States – where I THINK these are from, as I discovered them on many different blogs from there – I am really hoping YOU know what they are, and therefore I don’t have to explain them.

Aaaaand everyone else, if you don’t have anything like this: a surprise ball is basically filled with a tiny toys and gifts that are wrapped in layers of streamers/crepe paper, which you uncover as you unwrap the ball. Whilst the gifts are small, half the fun is in unwrapping it!

If that was a horrible explanation, I’m sorry. Hopefully my tutorial below will help you understand. At the very least, hopefully you’ll enjoy them because they look (somewhat) like Captain America’s shield! πŸ‘‡ ❀️
