In case you missed the news, Rugrats is making a comeback! With the original voice cast! As a 90’s kid and a big lover of all TV shows, I obviously had to celebrate this incredible news (because no, I am NOT tired of reboots/revivals – bring them ALL on 🙌), so I made a DIY project inspired by an iconic item from the show: a Reptar Bar.
Whilst I made a craft project this time around, I am definitely up for making a homemade version of a Reptar Bar in the future if you guys would like to see a recipe of that, so just let me know – and I will try my *best* to make one that turns your tongue green, like the jingle says!
Long-time readers will know how much I love making DIY place cards, and I’m glad that this is my first design of the year as I’m pretty happy with it ☺️ It was a lot of fun to make AND hiding underneath that yellow wrapper is a mint chocolate bar, since Reptar Bars were brown, but known to have “green stuff” in them. I thought that was pretty clever of me 😉Anyway, onto the project!
This year marks 25 wonderful years with Pokemon (it is also marks 25 years with ME, in September, but we’ll get to that then). The very first Pokemon game was released on February 27th 1996, making that day forever known as Pokemon Day ✨As a huge fan of Pokemon my entire life, I knew I couldn’t let this anniversary slip by unnoticed and not celebrated.
I had wanted to make jelly cups of the original cast members for a while now. I was going to make them back in September, as that’s my birthday month – so they could be a treat for myself – but decided this month would be more fitting instead.
But just a day, or even a month, isn’t enough to celebrate this wonderful franchise that I have loved my entire life (seriously, there are baby photos of me with Pokemon birthday cakes that I am far too young to eat– and rough memories of me being teased mercilessly for wearing a Poke Ball necklace to school in high school 🙄), so don’t be surprised if you see other Pokemon posts scattered on the blog throughout the year as a nod to the anniversary of this phenomenon still standing so tall and strong after so long.
Whilst I haven’t kept up with the show yet, I WILL – I’ve just been slacking as there’s a lot of TV shows to watch these days! – as I am determined to watch and own every episode of Pokemon there is. I actually got a few more seasons for last Christmas to add to my collection, which is mostly turning into DVDs and Pop Vinyls at this point 😅 Anyway, let’s get onto the recipe!
In case you thought I was going to share Christmas themed posts for the rest of this year, you were wrong 😉 My monthly jelly/jello cups have been in the works all month long – and here they are!
This month, I let YOU guys choose who I would be basing my jelly cups on (which I also did for my Bob’s Burgers jelly cups, too!), and whilst I am way too young to have seen the OG Scooby Doo TV show, I *did* growing up loving the early 00’s movies with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Jr.
However, I chose to base these jelly cup’s design of the TV series as that is where it all began, that’s where a lot of you guys might know these characters from best, plus there are far too many outfit changes in the movies to keep up with 😅
Also, can’t remember if I ever mentioned it on here, but I somewhat-recently started a PEZ dispenser collection, and I got half the Scooby Doo ones way before I decided to make this recipe, but after I knew I was making these, I paid a lot more money for the others so I could complete my collection – even though they’re based off the latest movie 🙊
